October 1st is the International Day of Older Persons.
Older people around the globe are our societal role models, care givers, and keepers of all the different cultural traditions. It is expected that by 2030, the amount pf people aged 60 and above will surpass the number of youth. This can be considered one of the biggest societal changes of the 21st century.
The International Day of Older Persons is commemorated to recognize older people’s achievements and the obstacles they face. “The Journey to Age Equality” is the theme for this year. Its purpose is to raise awareness about old age inequalities and how to prevent them.
